[plant morphology] Pogostemon cablin
Annual herb, 30-70 cm high. The stem is tetragonal, the lower part takes root lying on the ground, the upper part is erect, with branches, and the tender branches are sparsely hairy. Leaf blade ovate or oblong, 3-6 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, papery, apex short, margin with irregular thick obtuse teeth, base cuneate; upper green, bald, with short hairs on main veins; lower light green, with sparse hairs on veins, gradually falling off when old, with glandular points; petiole 1.7-3 cm long. Axillary and terminal racemes of open branches, 2.5-5 cm long; petiole with short hairs; bracts lanceolate; calyx campanulate, persistent, 5-lobed, upper lip 2-lobed larger, lower lip 3-lobed, front end all pointed, surface with long sticky hairs and glandular dots, larger when fruiting; corolla reddish; stamens 4, prominent, anthers 2-locular, ovoid; pistils 1, stigma 2-lobed. Nutlets 4, round, diameter about 1 mm, yellowish brown, surface with fine wrinkles. The flowering period is from June to August. The fruit period is from August to October.
It grows in wasteland, field edge, roadside and grass. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan, Fujian and other places.
