[plant morphology] perennial herbs or subshrubs. Stem erect, 0.5-1m high, base lignified, surface yellowish brown, with longitudinal stripes, many branches; when young, all have brown filiform hair, after growth, nearly glabrous. The leaves are 1-3-lobed, the lower lobes are wide and short, often covered with short silky hairs; the middle lobes are slender and hairy, about 1 mm wide; the upper lobes are divided, 3-lobed or undivided, nearly glabrous. The inflorescence is small and many, dense into a complex raceme; involucral bracts 3-4 layers, glabrous, outer layer ovate, inner layer elliptic, central green, edge membranous; flowers yellow, tubular, outer layer 3-5, female, fertile, inner layer 5-7, bisexual, sterile. Achene oblong, about 0.8mm long, glabrous. The flowering period is from September to October and the fruiting period is from October to December.
