[plant morphology] formosana formosana
Evergreen trees, up to 7 meters high. The root bark is thick, juicy and light brown. The trunk is erect with few branches, the epidermis is rough, gray black, with longitudinal cracks and transverse stripes. The leaves are papery, elliptic, 6-12 cm long, glabrous on both sides, 6-10 pairs of lateral veins, and 15-30 cm long petioles. Flowers arranged in umbelliform order, inflorescences arranged in 10-20 cm branches to form a large panicle, all densely covered with brown stellate pilose; calyx tapetum, several entire or with indistinct 5 teeth; petals 5; stamens 5; ovary 2-locular, style 2, free. Berry shaped drupe, oblate. It blooms in autumn.
