[plant morphology] Geranium gracile
Annual herb, 25-35 cm high. The root is many, thick iron filiform, juicy. Stem slender, erect or lower reclining, much branched, slightly white pilose, nodes distinct, stem near nodes slightly curved. Leaves opposite, pentagonal round, 4-7 cm long and wide, 3-5-lobed; lobes pinnately lobed, ovate; lobules about 3 pairs, oblong, pointed; petioles 2-4 times longer than leaves, upper ones not more than leaves. The peduncle of inflorescence is far longer than the leaf, with two terminal flowers; the peduncle is slightly shorter than the flower; the sepals are lanceolate, covered with white hairs, with three veins, and the middle vein is uplifted; the petals are red purple, 2 times longer than the sepals. The capsule is 1.8-2.5 cm long.
It grows on hillside wasteland and under sparse forest. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Hubei and Sichuan.
