[plant morphology] Belamcanda chinensis, also known as soshanhu, calendula, dichotoma, Baihua, iris dichotoma, iris Belamcanda and fancao.
Perennial herbs. Rhizome thin, transverse. Stem branched, 25-75 cm high; branches in pairs, 1 bract at each fork. The leaves are sword shaped, inlaid, 0.6-2.2 cm wide. Flowers 3-5 in a cluster, white, with a few purplish brown or reddish purple spots, circumvolved perianth with white patches, nearly square, spreading without beard, 1.8 cm long, inner ring perianth oblanceolate, shorter; stamens 3; styles 3-lobed, stigma petal. Capsule narrowly oblong, 3.7 cm long. Seeds dark brown. The flowering period is from July to August.
Born on hills and slopes. It is distributed in Northeast, North China, Shandong, Jiangsu and other places.
[herb] the rhizome is irregular nodular. It is 2-5 cm long and 0.7-2.5 cm in diameter. The surface is grayish brown, rough, with round stem mark or residual stem base.
