Small evergreen trees or shrubs. Branches thin, sparse yellow hairs when tender. Single leaf opposite, leathery; leaf blade long elliptic or ovate elliptic, 7-12 cm long, 2.5-4 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, entire, pubescent when tender above, glabrescent later, densely covered with white pubescence below, 3-4 pairs of lateral veins; petiole pubescent when tender. Inflorescence subglobose; involucral bracts 4, white, ovate, 2.5-3.5 cm long, 1-2.2 cm wide; calyx tubular, 4-lobed, coarsely hairy; petals 4, yellow; stamens 4; ovary inferior. Drupe many, integrated with succulent spherical aggregate fruit, red purple.

Born in the forest on the hillside. It is distributed in Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, etc.
