Perennial herbaceous vines, 4-6 m high, with inverted bristles. Leaves opposite, oval, 3-5-lobed, 7-lobed, 5-13 cm long, apex pointed, base cordate, margin serrate, long petiole, rough surface; leaves on inflorescence branches smaller, undivided. Dioecious, male inflorescence conical, large; female inflorescence short spike, oval, slightly drooping, with slender stems, yellowish green, spherical when bearing fruit; bracts with aromatic glands at the base of inner surface, enlarged after flowering. Achenes oblate, brown.
It grows in the gully bottom or sparse shrub of low mountain or middle mountain area. Distributed in Hebei, Shanxi, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan and other places.
