Shrubs or small trees, up to 8 meters high. Pinnate compound leaves 10-15 cm long, with 5-9 leaflets, petiole and rachis pilose; leaflets ovate to elliptic, 3-6 cm long, apex acuminate, base oblique, subglabrous or thinly pilose below, with short petiole. Raceme small, axillary, about 3 cm long; flowers 5-6 mm long, nearly bell shaped; calyx reddish purple, about half of petals; petals white to lavender; stamens 10, of which 5 are shorter, anther free; ovary 5-lobed, 5-locular, with more than one ovule per locule, style 5.
