[plant morphology] Dryopteris japonica
Small plant, 10-20 cm high. Rhizome short, erect, top densely covered with narrow lanceolate dark brown scales. The vegetative leaves are short, lanceolate or oblong, 1-2 cm long, 5-8 mm wide, obtuse or acuminate, base broadly cuneate; fertile leaves have long stalks, lanceolate, 10-15 cm long, 5-8 mm wide, apex acuminate, and extend to the ground to root and produce new plants. Sporangia are found on one or both sides of the reticulum, with short strip or oblong cap, membranous and entire margin.
Born at the foot of rock. It is distributed in Northeast, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Shandong and Northern Jiangsu.

[function indications] hemostasis, anti-inflammatory. Treatment of traumatic bleeding, uterine bleeding.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 0.5-1.5 yuan; or grinding powder. External use: grind powder and apply.
[selection] to treat uterine bleeding: three to seven pieces of stirrup leaves, fried in water, boiled with egg tea, once a day for the light, twice a day for the heavy; or five pieces of stirrup leaves, ground and boiled with boiling water.
