Deciduous trees, about 10 m high. Buds ovate, bud scales acute or obtuse. Single leaf alternate; oblong or oblong ovate, 9-11 cm long, 4-7 cm wide, apex acuminate, base obliquely rounded, entire, densely covered with gray stellate felts when young; petiole 2-3 cm long. Cyme, 9-12 flowers; bracts linear rectangular, 14-16 cm long, 2-2.2 cm wide, densely covered with stellate felts below; calyx 5 pieces, narrow triangle, gray felts outside, villous inside; petals 5 pieces, yellow, ovate lanceolate; stamens many, staminodes 5 pieces, petal like; ovary obovate, densely covered with gray felts, stigma 5-lobed. Fruit obovate, covered with gray stellate tapetum. The flowering period is July. The fruit ripens in October.
Born in the forest of Zhongshan District. It is distributed in Sichuan and other places.
