[plant morphology] Euonymus japonicus, also known as apical Tripterygium.
Evergreen subshrub, 20-30 cm high. Stem with fleshy, lower decubitus, upper erect or oblique, branched. Leaves alternate, or clustered at the top of branches; slightly leathery; obovate or rhombic elliptic, 3-6 cm long, 1-4 cm wide, apex slightly pointed or obtuse, base cuneate, leaf margin above middle serrate, dark green above, glossy; petiole 0.8-1.5 cm long. Inflorescence terminal; flowers white, apetalous, unisexual, male flowers in the upper part of inflorescence, female flowers at the base; male sepals 4, margin hairy, stamens 4-6, central 1 undeveloped pistil; female sepals 4 or more, ovary 2-3 rooms, style 2-3. Fruit triangular oval, slightly white. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows in the grass under the mountain forest. It is distributed in Zhejiang, Hubei, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Guizhou, etc.
