Liana. Stem subglabrous, nodes slightly expanded. Leaves: opposite, 2-pinnate compound leaves, 10-15 cm long; pinnules usually 2 pairs, with 3 leaflets at the bottom; leaflets ovate to lanceolate, 3-6 cm long, apex acuminate to long acuminate, margin serrate; petiole 4-5 cm long. Cyme with 1-3 flowers; peduncle 1.5-4.5 cm long; bracts lanceolate; calyx campanulate, purplish red, sepals 4, narrowly ovate, about 1.5 cm long, apex acute, glabrous outside, margin short tomentose; without petals; stamens numerous, as long as sepals, filaments strip, densely pilose, anthers glabrous; style densely covered with upward long hairs. Achene oblate, elliptic, ca. 3 mm long, with close short hairs, pinnate style 2. 5 cm long. The flowering period is from August to September.
It grows in the mountain bush. It is distributed in the Yangtze River Basin, reaching the north of Guangdong in the South and Gansu and Shaanxi in the north.
Light, flat and nontoxic.
Function indications: Shujin Huoxue, Qushi Zhitong, Jiedu diuretic.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 0.5-1 Liang. External use: wash with boiling water or tamp the nostrils.
[prescription selection] ① treatment of muscle and bone pain and numbness of limbs: five coins of Clematis pubescens, five coins of Sargentodoxa, two liang of xiongliu, five coins of mufangji, two coins of shifern, fried in water.
② Treatment of abdominal distension: one or two roots of Clematis pubescens, five coins of shigepu, five coins of tangerine peel, five coins of Agrimonia pilosa, fried in water.
③ Treatment of unknown swelling: Clematis pubescens whole grass, fried water to wash the affected area.
④ Treatment of eye from star Yi: fresh pistil clematis root, smash plug nostril, left eye plug right, right eye plug left. (the nature and taste are listed in Hunan medicine records)
