Perennial herbs. The roots are massive, elongated and fleshy. Leaves stemmed or clustered at the base of stem, linear lanceolate, 15-30 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide, parallel veins. Stem 30-60 cm long, leafy, internodes long, bald; panicle dispersed; bracts falling off; sepals 3, oblong lanceolate; petals 3, ovoid, purple blue; stamens 2, filaments hairy, staminodes 3, bald. Capsule subglobose, ca. 6 mm in diam. Seeds brown with indistinct wrinkles. The flowering period is late spring and early summer. The fruit period is from October to November.
Born in the stream, grass slope. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Guizhou and other places.
