[plant morphology] Trifolium

Perennial erect herbs, about 80-100 cm high. Stems white pilose, twigs quadrangular. Leaves opposite, broadly ovate, ca. 3 cm long, ca. 2.5 cm wide, margin coarsely serrate, white pilose; petiole ca. 7 mm long. Cyme axillary; calyx campanulate, 4-lobed, lobes ovate, apex pointed, pilose; corolla purplish red, 5-lobed, symmetrical, upper 4-lobes equal, bottom 1 larger, with purplish red spots; stamens 4, 2-strong, protruding; ovary 4-locular, style slender, longer than stamens, apex 2-divergent. Capsule, 4-lobed, enclosed by persistent calyx. The flowering period is from April to May.

Most of them grow on the shrub grassland in the lower part of the hillside. It is distributed in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu and other places.
