Perennial herbs, 5-35 cm high. The taproot is slender and cylindrical. Most of the stems are buried in the sand, and some of them are exposed to the ground. Leaves basal, alternate; petiole long, base sheath shaped; leaf blade ovoid, 3-way split to 2-way pinnate division, and finally lobes ovate, apex rounded or acuminate, base truncate, margin prickly, thick.
