Small deciduous shrub. Branches yellowish brown, hairy when young. Leaf blade ovate or elliptic, 6-14 cm long, 2.5-5.5 cm wide, apex acute to acuminate, base rounded to acuminate, entire, rarely serrate. Corymbose cyme terminal; total pedicel 5-7 cm long; bracts linear, opposite; calyx campanulate, covered with yellowish brown hairs, lobes 5, triangular; corolla tubular, white, hairy outside, lobes 5, oblong; stamen 4, inserted in the throat of floral tube, anther dorsal, filament slender; pistil 1, ovary superior, style slender, stigma bifid. Berry, globose or obovate, base with persistent calyx. The flowering period is from June to August. The fruit period is from July to September.
It grows in the grass of wasteland and low hilly land or under the sparse forest. It is distributed in Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, etc.
