Perennial evergreen herbs. The stem is slightly stout, about 25 cm high, with clustered branches at the base and 4-5 forked branches above. Leaves densely arranged on stem, linear lanceolate, ca. 12 mm long, apex acuminate, base almost sessile, entire, dark green. The sporangium is kidney shaped, light yellow, subsessile, and inserted in the axil of the leaf at the end of the branch; after maturity, it splits into two pieces and disperses yellow powdery spores; the sporangium bearing leaves are the same as or slightly shorter than the lower leaves, and do not form a clear sporangium spike.
It grows on damp rock or soil under the forest. It is distributed in Zhejiang and Anhui.
[function indications] for measles (it has the effect of penetrating and detoxifying): dry whole grass and lychee seeds, five to six coins each, fried in water, taken on an empty stomach for several times, until the measles reaches the foot.
