Subshrub, up to 1 m high. Stem rounded, glabrous. The leaves are opposite, leathery, ovate to obovate or oblong, 4-10.5 cm long and 1.5-5.5 cm wide, with obtuse apex, cuneate base, serrate margin, glandular points on the tooth tip and obvious veins below; the petiole is short, about 1 cm long. The spikes are slender, 1-3cm long, arranged in panicles; the flowers are small, yellow, fragrant, sessile and perianth free; the bracts are very small, triangular; the stamens are 3, which are formed by connective connectives into ovate, with 3-5 teeth at the apex; the ovary is ovate, 1-locular, without style. Drupe ovoid globose. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from August to September.
In the forest of mountain area, garden and flower bed are cultivated. Distributed in Jiangsu, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places.
