[plant morphology] Celastrus cinnabarinus
Perennial grass vines. The root is fleshy and thick, and the branch root is similar in thickness. Stems green, branched; branchlets slender, covered with inconspicuous trichomes. Single leaf opposite; petiolate; leaf blade thick papery; heart-shaped ovate or heart-shaped round or subhalberd shaped, 4-10 cm long, margin shallowly undulate, upper green, very sparsely pubescent, lower gray white or light green, subglabrous. Umbel axillary; calyx 5-lobed, lobes ovate oblong, margin eyelashes; corolla whorled, lobes rotated, inner surface with pilose; corona scales 5-piece, hypertrophy, swelling, fleshy, apex separated; pollen block 1 per chamber, drooping. Follicles long angular, smooth. The seeds are brown with filiform tufts at the top. The flowering period is from May to July. The fruit period is from August to September.
It grows in the sparse shrub of hillside. It is distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and other places.

Bitter, warm and poisonous.
