[plant morphology] Litsea angustifolia
Deciduous trees, up to 20 m high. Leaves alternate, broad obovate, rhomboid obovate or broad elliptic, 9-20 cm long and 6-13 cm wide, apex obtuse or rounded, base slightly auricular, entire, thick papery, veins reddish brown, lateral veins 7-9 pairs, both sides of veins are pubescent, upper surface becomes smooth when old; petiole 3-7 cm long. The flowers are unisexual, dioecious, with 5-8 umbels of open first leaves; the involucre is 8-piece, broad ovate, with silky hairs on the outside; the perianth is yellow, 6-8-lobed, with hairs on the outside; the male flowers have fertile stamens 9, anthers 4-chambered, with inward petals splitting; the female flowers have staminodes 9, ovary ovate, style slightly pubescent near the top. Drupe ovoid, black when ripe, ca. 1. 5 cm long. The flowering period is from March to April. The fruit period is from September to October.
Born on the sunny hillside of high mountains. It is distributed in Zhejiang Province.
