Shrub, 1-3 m high. Branchlets ribbed, appressed sericeous. Stipules small, lanceolate; leaflets ovate or obovate, papery, apical leaflets slightly larger, 4.5-6 cm long, 2.5-4.5 cm wide, apex rounded, slightly concave, base rounded, slightly narrow, entire, below pilose; petiole 1-3 cm long. Panicle terminal; petiole 5-6 mm long; calyx 5-lobed, narrowly lanceolate, upper 2 connate, hairy; corolla dark purple, 1 cm long, keel, flag and wing nearly equal. Pods elliptic, covered with sparse sericeous hairs, 5-7 mm long.
Born in the wild grass slope, roadside. It is distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou.

It is cool in nature and slightly bitter in taste.
[function indications] antipyretic. To cure cold and fever, take the decoction of doudouchai and fennel root.
