[plant morphology] the stem is erect, cylindrical, green, reddish purple in sunny places, with grooves, 30-122cm high and 0.6-1.2cm thick. The leaves are thin leathery, long elliptic, 9-12cm long and 2-4.5cm wide, with sharp or acuminate tips. The raceme is at the apex of leafless stem, drooping, with 5-8 flowers; the flowers are golden yellow and fragrant; the sepals are about 2.5cm long and 1.2-1.5cm wide; the petals are as long as the sepals, but 1.5-1.7cm wide; the labial petals are nearly round, 2.5-3cm long and 2.5-2.8cm wide; there is a kidney shaped purple patch on the labial disc, with villi on both sides. The flowering period is from April to May.
Born on rocks and trees. It is distributed in Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan.

[character] the stem is cylindrical, straight, occasionally branched, 30-122cm long, 6-10mm in diameter at the base, 5-9mm in diameter at the middle, 2-4mm in diameter at the upper, and 2-5.1cm in length at the internode. The surface is yellow to dark yellow, mostly with 8-9 deep longitudinal furrows, fibrous appendages, residual grayish yellow leaf sheaths and grayish brown aerial roots on nodes. It is light in weight, fibrous in cross section, gray white or gray brown. The fresh stems are purplish red and the old ones are green. The taste is slightly bitter.
