[animal morphology] Red Crowned Crane, also known as crane (Book of songs), white crane (Jiayou materia medica), crane (daily use materia medica), immortal bird and fetal bird (compendium).

The body length is more than 1.2 meters. The mouth is long and greenish gray with a light yellow top. The iris is brown. The main body feathers are white. The skin on the top of the head is exposed and scarlet, but not red when young; the forehead and eyes are slightly black; the throat, cheek and neck are dark brown. The second and third flight feathers are long and curved in bow shape; when the wings are folded, they cover the whole white short tail and are mistaken for tail feathers. The female is the same color as the male. Tibia, tarsometatarsal and toe are slender, gray black, hind toe small, higher than the first three toes, claw gray.

It is often involved in shoals near water. The sound is loud and the flying ability is strong. They mainly eat fish, insects, crustaceans and frogs. It propagated in Heilongjiang Province and moved to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River for winter.
