[plant morphology] Cinnamomum camphora
Evergreen tree, up to 15 meters high, with brown bark and fragrant. Branches often opposite, nearly tetragonal, pubescent, but soon glabrescent. The leaves are large, nearly opposite, hard leathery, elliptic long elliptic to ovate long elliptic, 10-22 cm long and 4-6 cm wide, first rounded or gradually narrowed, base broadly cuneate, entire, olive green above, light green below, glabrous, 3-veined, with transverse parallel veinlets between them; petiole stout, brownish, 1.2-2 cm long. Flowers yellow; panicles large, subterminal, shorter than or as long as leaves. The fruit is small, elliptic or oblong, about 1 cm long, with round and apical apex; the receptacle is shallow cup-shaped, enclosing the base of the fruit, with 6 round teeth on the edge. It blooms in spring. The fruit period is from April to May.
It grows in dense forest on hillside or beside ditch. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places.
