Deciduous shrub, 2-4m high. Branchlets reddish when young. The leaves are alternate, often clustered, the upper end of short branches is ovoid or ovate, 3.5-5.5 cm long and 3-4.5 cm wide, the apex is 3-5-lobed, the middle lobe is long, the edge of the lobe is irregularly notched serrated, the leaf base is shallow cordate or nearly truncate, the upper part is scattered with white flat glandular hairs, and the lower vein is sparsely with white villi; the petiole is 1-2.2 cm long, sparsely glandular hairs or glabrous. Flowers unisexual, dioecious; several flowers integrated into racemes, rachis and pedicel are white pubescent, with glandular hairs in the middle; bracteoles long elliptic with glandular hairs; calyx cup-shaped, 6-lobed, lobes ovate; corolla 5-lobed, smaller than calyx; stamen 5; ovary inferior, style 2. Berry globose, 8-10 mm in diam., scarlet, glabrous; stipe very short. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from September to October.

It grows under the hillside forest, beside the rock and in the bush by the valley and stream.
