Small evergreen shrub, 1-2m high. The root is yellow white and striped. Leaves alternate, palmately compound, leaflets 3-5, lanceolate, 4-11 cm long, 0.7-1 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, margin sparsely serrate; petiole 4-10 cm long. Panicle is composed of many umbels, inserted at the top of branches or axils of leaves; flowers are small, green white, petals 5, broad ovate, base United. Drupe oblate, black. It blooms in summer and autumn.
