[plant morphology] Parthenocissus macrophylla
Vines glaucous, climbing on rocks or trees with short branched cuplike tendrils. The leaves on the young branches are simple, heart-shaped ovate or heart-shaped round, 2-4 cm wide, serrated; on the old branches or flower branches, they have long stalks, finger shaped 3-leaflets, the leaflets have very short stalks, nearly leathery, the lateral base is extremely oblique, ovate to broad lanceolate ovate, 5-10 cm long, apex acuminate, edge with sharp or irregular serrations, both sides bare. Cymes terminal or opposite to leaves, petiolate, arranged in a corymbose pattern, shorter than leaves, 2-3-branched many times; flowers about 3 mm long, 5-numbered, sometimes 4-numbered; ovary ovate, upper part contracted to form a short style. Berries black when ripe, ca. 6 mm in diam., powdered. It blooms in summer.
Born in the wild. It is distributed in the south of China.
