[plant morphology] Cynanchum chinense
Evergreen vine like shrub, the whole plant has fragrance. Stem green, with fine longitudinal lines, smooth glabrous. They are palmately compound, alternate; leaflets usually 7, total petiole 7-9 cm long; stipules connate with petiole at petiole base, conspicuous; leaflets long ovate, 9-16 cm long, 2.5-4 cm wide, apex caudal, base rounded, entire, leathery, green above, glossy below, pale green below, reticulate; petiole 1-3 cm long, longest in the middle. Inflorescence umbelliform, assembled into a panicle, terminal; flowers bluish white, calyx 5-toothed; petals 5-piece, separated, ovate; stamens 5-piece. Berries globose, yellow red when ripe. It blooms in spring and summer.
In valleys or wet open forests. Distributed in Guizhou, Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Taiwan and other places.
The Aesculus used in Yunnan is the whole plant of Hedysarum micranthum with the same efficacy. Its original plant is small evergreen tree, 5-7 meters high. The leaves are palmately compound, 5-7 leaflets, elliptic, 5-10 cm long and 2.5-4 cm wide, apex short acuminate, base rounded to broadly cuneate, entire, petiole 2-4 cm long. Panicle about 16 cm long; flowers white, fragrant, pedicel obvious. Berries globose, dark purple when ripe.

[clinical application] 1
For all kinds of pain, such as urinary tract stone infection, biliary tract stone infection, fracture, ulcer disease, intestinal ascariasis, pancreatitis, rheumatic pain, all kinds of cancer and postoperative pain, it has a certain analgesic effect. 1. Intramuscular injection: take dried products to make injection, each milliliter contains 6 grams of crude drugs, intramuscular injection, 2 milliliters for adults, 1 milliliter for adults over 2 years old, 0.5 milliliter for children under 2 years old, and repeat the injection if necessary. The pain disappeared in 25 cases, significantly reduced in 23 cases and relieved in 12 cases. The shortest onset time is 10 minutes, most of which are within half an hour. There was no obvious side effect. Two acupoint injection: 96 cases of gastrointestinal pain were treated by acupoint injection at Zhongwan point with 1g crude drug per milliliter. After treatment, the pain disappeared in 72 cases, markedly effective in 14 cases, improved in 7 cases and ineffective in 2 cases. The shortest onset time was 3 minutes and the longest 35 minutes, with an average of 13 minutes. It is said that the analgesic effect of point injection of Aesculus root is better than atropine, and it will not produce side effects like atropine. 3. Oral Decoction: take 0.5-1 liang of dry root, stem and leaf of the product every day, decoct in water and take it twice.
In addition, for neuropathic pain, the whole herb decoction of Aesculus chinensis was used for ion entry therapy, once a day or every other day, 30 minutes each time. 16 cases were observed, 10 cases were cured (pain completely disappeared), 5 cases were improved (pain relieved or times reduced). General treatment 2 ~ 3 times is obvious curative effect, the number of pain reduced or alleviated.
② Anesthesia
The injection containing 2G crude drug per milliliter was used for ear point injection anesthesia in 112 cases of tooth extraction, jaw cyst resection and jaw fracture reduction in stomatology department. 89.4% of the patients had satisfactory or better anesthesia effect.
