Deciduous tree, 5-10m high. The bark is light yellowish brown, the twigs are square, with white short hairs, and the buds are densely covered with white short hairs. Leaves simple, alternate, rarely whorled, oblong elliptic to ovoid. It is 5-12 cm long and 3-5 cm wide, fragrant and leathery when kneaded. The apex is round or short pointed, the base is blunt to round, the whole margin is dark green on the top, the veins are slightly concave or flat, sparsely short hairy when tender, light green on the bottom, sparsely small glands, densely pubescent, the main veins are raised, the lateral veins are 7-11 pairs, also raised, slanting out near the leaf margin and curved; the petiole is 4 mm long. Flowers bisexual, axillary 1-4; calyx 5 pieces, green, oval; petals white, ovate, 2-2.5cm long; stamens many, as long as petals, filaments white, anthers light yellow, longitudinally split; pistil 1, style longer than filaments, stigma round, ovary inferior, 3-locular, ovules many. The berry is spherical, ovoid or pear shaped, 2.5-8 cm in length and 3-5 cm in diameter. The flesh is usually yellow, white or carmine. Seeds ovoid, pale white. The flowering period is from May to August. The fruit period is from August to November.
Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Fujian and other places.
