Podpregnancy

Deciduous shrub, up to 3 m high. Stem erect, brown, multi branched, winter buds with 2 scales, shoots with stellate hairs. Single leaf opposite, membranous, leaf blade round to broadly ovate or even oblong, 6-8 cm long, 5 cm wide, apex pointed to short acuminate, base round to nearly heart-shaped, leaf margin triangular serrate; above with sparse hairs, below with stellate hairs and yellow scalelike glandular dots; leaves feathery, 5-8 pairs, straight to leaf margin; no stipules. Cymes many flowered, 8-12 cm in diameter, stellate hairy; calyx tube short, 5-toothed, persistent; corolla lobes 5, hairy; stamens 5, longer than corolla, anther separated, 2-locular; style short, stigma pointed, 3-lobed; ovary inferior. Berry shaped drupe, broadly ovoid, dark red, glabrous. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from September to October.

Growing in shrubs in mountainous or hilly areas. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Jiangxi, Hubei, Fujian and other places.
