[plant morphology] Veronica erectus
Herbs 1-year or 2-year-old, all hirsute. Stem erect, or lower part slightly thinned, 10-30 cm high. Branches from base, branches obliquely upward. Leaves opposite, ovoid or triangular ovoid, 1-1.5 cm long, 5-8 mm wide, margin obtuse serrate, base rounded, lower leaves with very short petiole, upper leaves sessile. Panicle raceme, loose; petiole short, ca. 1.5 mm; bracts alternate, oblanceolate or lanceolate; calyx narrowly rounded or oblanceolate, 4-lobed; corolla 4-lobed, alternate with calyx, blue, purplish; stamens 2. Pistil 1, ovary superior, 2-locular. Capsule, oblate heart-shaped, apex concave, with fine hairs and long side hairs, often leaving a very short style, containing many small seeds. The flowering period is from April to May.
Born in the wilderness. It is distributed all over East China.
