Partridge flower
Trees, up to 10 m high. Branches smooth with a few lenticels. The panicle is axillary, near the leaf; the flower is white; the calyx is campanulate, 4-5-lobed; the petals are 4-5-lobed; the stamen tube is 8-or 10-lobed; the ovary is subglobose, 2-3-locular. Capsule subglobose, stipitate, 2 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, smooth, glabrous, 2-valved. The seeds have white aril.
Born in hillside forest. Distributed in Yunnan, Guangxi, Guizhou and other places.

Bitter, cool and poisonous.
Functions and indications: clearing away heat and toxin, expelling wind and dampness, and benefiting throat. Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic lumbago, laryngitis, tonsillitis, heart, stomach pain.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoct soup, 3-5 yuan; or soak in wine.
