[plant morphology] licorice
Perennial herbs. Stem erect, base lignified, ribbed, all covered with scalelike yellow glands. Leaflets 5-13, lanceolate or broadly lanceolate, 2-5 cm long and 0.5-2 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate. Raceme axillary; flowers dense, 8-10 mm long; calyx campanulate, 5-lobed; corolla butterfly shaped, blue. Pods ovate, brown, 1-1.5 cm long, 0.4-0.5 cm wide, densely spined; 2 seeds, black. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from August to September.
It grows in the grass and shrub beside the field, river and roadside. Distribution of northeast and Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Shaanxi, Henan, Shanxi and other regions.
