[plant morphology] Camellia soochowensis
Annual aromatic herbs, 30-40 cm high, many branched. Stem square, sparsely pubescent. Leaves opposite, lanceolate, 2-3 cm long, 5-8 mm wide, apex acuminate, base subcuneate, sparsely serrate, smooth, densely glandular below; petiole 5 mm long. Inflorescence terminal sparsely; bracts very small, suborbicular, apex mucronate; flowers ca. 6 mm long; calyx campanulate, 5-lobed, perianth short hairy; corolla pale red, 2 times as long as calyx, upper lip erect, concave, lower lip 3-lobed, central lobe largest; stamens 4, stamens posterior or upper developed, slightly protruding out of corolla, anther 2, widely divergent, stamens anterior or lower Pistil 1, ovary deeply 4-lobed, style slightly protruding, 2-lobed, stigma unequal. Nutlets are brown, round, reticulate, with small glandular dots and obvious hilum at the base. The flowering period is from September to October. The fruit period is from October to November.
On the fertile soil under the shade of hillside or tree. It is distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and other places.

The stem is square, brown in appearance, sparsely white pilose, uniaxial and multi branched. The leaves are opposite and curly. After stretching, the complete leaves are lanceolate with serrated edges. Inflorescence racemose at the top, corolla lip shaped. The air is fresh and fragrant.
