[plant morphology] cold rice vine, also known as rice ball vine.
Evergreen woody vines. The epidermis of the root is gray brown with red and fragrant inside. The stem has a loose and thick cork like cork, which is red after the skin is removed. When the root and stem are cut off, they can be ventilated. Leaves alternate, leathery, smooth and thick, green, oblong lanceolate to oblong, 6-10 cm long and 3-4 cm wide, apex acute, base broad acute, entire; tender leaves slightly sticky. Flowers red or yellow, solitary in leaf axils. The perianth of male flower is 12-13 pieces, the stamen is about 25, the stamen column is round and spherical; the perianth of female flower is similar to that of male flower, and the pistil group is composed of 35-50 carpels. Aggregate fruit nearly spherical or elliptic, 1.2-2 cm in diameter, red when ripe. Seeds reniform. The flowering period is from July to September. The fruit period is from October to November.
It grows in the sparse forest on the hillside and the wet place beside the ditch. Distributed in Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places.
