[plant morphology] Hedyotis diffusa

Perennial herbs, about 1 meter high. Rhizome short, nearly erect. Leaves clustered or solitary, ovate to ovate lanceolate, 2-6 cm long and 1-5 cm wide, apex short, base rounded or slightly heart-shaped; petiole 7-17 cm long, with leaf sheath. Raceme from the leaf sheath, 3-6 flowers, petiolate; perianth campanulate, 6-lobed, almost reaching the base, blue and red; stamen 6, with 1 larger one, filament with teeth on one side, anther base inserted, apically split; ovary 3-locular, style thin. Capsule long ovate, 12 mm long, loculicidal, many seeds. The flowering period is from August to September.
