Perennial herbs. The bulb is ovoid, with short rhizome at the lower part and many fibrous roots on it. Leaves narrowly linear, basal, 15-20 cm long, 5-8 mm wide, smooth, adaxially concave. Inflorescence racemose, bracts small, linear; flower small, purplish red; perianth 6, lobes oblong, with 1 Deep Purple vein; stamen 6, filament base flat, apex; ovary oblate, 3-locular, with 1 erect ovule per locule. Capsule obovate, 3-ribbed, 3-valved and dehiscent at maturity, 2-3 cm long. Seeds ribbed, black, glossy. The flowering period is from August to September. The fruit period is from September to October.
Wild in hills, hillsides or fields. It is distributed in most parts of the country.
