[plant morphology] tsaokuo medicine, also known as liangjianghua (Atlas of Materia Medica in South Yunnan), wild ginger flower.
Perennial herbs. It is more than 1 meter high. The rhizome is massive. Stem erect, stout. Leaves 2-row, sessile. Leaf sheath tubular, 15 cm long; ligule 2.5 cm long, ovate triangular, margin red; leaf blade oblong lanceolate, 30 cm long, 10 cm wide, apex short acuminate, base cuneate, margin slightly undulate. Spikes terminal, 10-20 cm long; bracts oblong, about 2.5 cm long, blunt, both sides involute, light green yellow; bracteoles 1, shaped like bracts; calyx tube tube, 3.5 cm long; corolla tube about 2 times or less than calyx tube, lobes tile, reflexed, linear oblanceolate, light yellow white; lateral staminodes narrow. Petal shaped, about 3.5 cm long; labellum as long as both sides, spatulate obovate, deeply 2-lobed, clawed, white, base stained red; filaments tubular, orange red. Anthers long and narrow, orange red, dorsal; ovary inferior, style passing through anthers, stigma inflated. Capsule oblate, ca. 2. 5 cm in diam., with inconspicuous 3 edges. Seeds ovate, red, ca. 4 mm. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit ripens from October to November.
Born in the shady and wet place on the hillside. It is distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan and other places.
