Perennial herbs, 1-2 m high. Culms erect or climbing, much branched. Leaf blade flat, linear, 10-30 cm long, 5-10 mm wide, apex acuminate, base gradually narrowed into a short stalk, bald. Raceme solitary, involucre 6-8 mm long, apex short pointed; rachis flat, about 4 mm long; sessile spikelet about 4 mm long; lemma of the first floret about 4 mm long, apex short pointed, with 5 veins; lemma equal to lemma, margin narrow, involute; lemma of the second floret broad ovate, slightly shorter than lemma of the first floret, dorsal convex, compressed on both sides, apex short, margin narrow Margin narrowly involute, palea apex obtuse; degenerate petiolate spikelets glume like, flat, long ovate, ca. 1 mm long, petiole flat, ca. 3-4 mm long; male or neutral petiolate spikelets ca. 4 mm long. The flowering period is from July to October.
It grows on the edge of forest and hedge. It is distributed in South China and southwest China.
[function indications] it is used to treat snakebite. Take the root and rub it. Smash and apply the stems and leaves to treat foot erosion.
