[plant morphology] Xueli flat peach
Perennial herbs, up to 40-70 cm high, all with white milk. The rhizome is short, the fibrous root is many and slender, the soil yellow. Stem erect, usually unbranched, densely grayish white pubescent. Leaves opposite, shortly stipitate; ovate elliptic to broadly ovate, 6-10 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, apex short pointed, acuminate or obtuse, entire, base rounded or cuneate. Inflorescence axillary, usually umbelliform; flowers small, pale yellow; corolla 5-lobed, glabrous, corolla lobes almost as high as style, broadly triangular; stamen 5, pollen block 2 drooping; pistil 1, ovary superior, composed of 2 seperate carpels, style 2, seperate. Follicles lanceolate, glabrous, 4-5 cm long. Seeds broadly ovate, apex with a bunch of white hairs, margin winged, ca. 2 mm long. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruiting period is July.
It grows in grass and forest on hillside. It is distributed in most parts of the country.

[medicinal material] the dried rhizome is about 2-3cm long, with many side-by-side stem residues on the surface, rough and brown in appearance, and yellow white in cross section. The fibrous roots are small, clumped around the rhizome, twisted and not straight, about 3-5cm long; the appearance is brown and wrinkled; the texture is fragile, and the cross section is yellowish white. The smell is weak.
