[plant morphology] Hibiscus mutabilis (liuhedongji) is also known as Manglietia (jianglilingji), mangrove and bark tree (compendium), drunken Hibiscus mutabilis (preparation of raw herbs), and hibiscus macrophylla.
Deciduous shrub or small tree, 2-5M high. Branches stellate pubescent. The leaves are large, alternate, broadly ovate to ovate, 10-20 cm long and 9-22 cm wide, palmately 3-5-lobed, lobes triangular; the base is heart-shaped, apex short pointed or acuminate, margin with undulate obtuse teeth, slightly hairy above and densely stellate hairy below; the petiole is 5-8 cm long. Flowers axillary or clustered at the end of branches, 7-10 cm in diameter; white or pink when flowering in the morning, dark red in the afternoon; pedicel thick and long, covered with yellowish brown hair; bracteoles 8-10, linear, 1.5-2.5 cm long, covered with hair; calyx 5-lobed, 3-4 cm long, covered with hair, lobes broad ovate; corolla large and beautiful, petals 5, covered with hair outside, single or double petals; stamens many, filaments united Ovary 5-locular, style apex 5-lobed, stigma capitate. Capsule globose, loculicidal, 5-valved, ca. 2. 5 cm long, coarsely hairy. Seeds reniform, hairy. The flowering period is from August to October.
Most of them are planted in gardens. It is distributed in most parts of the country.
