[source] it is the dry root of Echinops latifolius Tausch or Echinops grijisii Hance.
In spring and autumn, they were dug to remove fibrous roots and sediment, and dried in the sun.
[character] the product is cylindrical, slightly twisted, 10-25cm in length, 0.5-1.5cm in diameter, grayish yellow or grayish brown on the surface, with longitudinal wrinkles and fibrous Brown bristles on the top. It is hard and not easy to break. The skin of the section is brown, and the wood is yellow and black with radial texture. It is slightly astringent.
