Herbs perennial, ca. 30 cm tall. Roots clustered, slender cylindrical. Leaves tufted, basal, banded, 18-22 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide, apex acuminate, entire, veins parallel, midrib protruding below. Inflorescence terminal; bracts shorter than flowers, narrow, very sharp; flowers white, 2-3 gathered, open one by one, with short stalks, stalks in the middle of the node, base has a pair of ovate lanceolate bracts; perianth lobes 6, linear; stamens 6, anthers long, curved, yellow, base has 2; ovary sessile, 3-locular, each locule has 12 ovules. The capsule has 3 wings and 2 seeds per locule. Seeds round, black spotted, base 2-EARED.
It grows in shady and wet places in hillside forest. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.
