[plant morphology] Pistacia chinensis (Guangxi Tongzhi), also known as Melia azedarach (rescue grass), herbal tea tree (Bamin Tongzhi), Clematis chinensis (Qiaonan suoji), regular script (Huainan grass and wood spectrum), Shilian, huangyuya, Jiguan, Yangyang, langxinmu and Huanghua.
Deciduous trees, up to 25 meters high. The winter buds are red with special smell; the branchlets are villous. The leaves are lanceolate to ovate lanceolate, 5-8 cm long and 2 cm wide. The apex is acuminate, the base is oblique, and there are fine hairs between the main veins on both sides. Flowers unisexual, dioecious; male flowers in racemes, 5-8 cm long, with bracteoles 2, sepals 1-2, stamens 3-5, filaments short; female flowers in loose panicles, 18-22 cm long, with bracteoles 2, sepals 2-5, ovary superior, style short, 3-lobed. Drupe obovate spherical, apical with a small tip, about 6 mm in diameter, yellow white at the beginning, red and purple blue at maturity. The flowering period is from March to April. The fruit period is from September to November.
Born in low mountains, hills and plains. It is distributed in Hebei, Henan, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Taiwan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, etc.
[chemical constituents] heartwood contains 1.21% fisetin, 0.015% yellow pigment lignin, 0.01% quercetin, 0.005% flagellin, 0.13% gallic acid and 0.03% β - sitosterol.
