[plant morphology] Sorbus bungei

Small trees, up to 8 m tall; bark gray; twigs villous; winter buds large, four conical, dense white villous. Leaflets 11-15, oblong to oblong lanceolate, 2-5.5 cm long, 1-1.7 cm wide, base cuneate, apex acute, margin more than 1 / 3 serrate, dark green above, pale white below, white pilose or glabrous; stipules large, nearly ovate, dentate, persistent, at least shedding after flowering. Compound corymb terminal, 10-12 cm in diameter, white pilose or glabrous; flowers white, sepals 5, triangular; petals 5, round or ovate. The fruit is subglobose, 6-8 mm long, orange or red, with residual perianth at the top. The flowering period is June. The fruit period is from September to October.

It likes moist soil and grows along the shady slopes of streams and valleys. It is distributed in Northeast China, North China and Gansu.
