Sweet potato vine

[source] stems and leaves of sweet potato, a family of Convolvulaceae. See "sweet potato" for plant morphology.
[pharmacological action] the leaves contain insulin-like components. One gram is equivalent to 440 units of insulin by oral administration, and the potency is doubled by subcutaneous injection. Filipinos use this plant to treat diabetes.
A kind of volatile oil was isolated from sweet potato infected with black rot by artificial infection. It can be divided into five parts. One of them has bitter taste and is a ketone. This ketone and another component have strong toxicity to animals. In the earthworm test, the repellent effect of these two parts is greater than that of shandaonian, and the other three parts have poor effect.
Some parts of plants contain hydrocyanic acid. There have been reports of poisoning death caused by taking a lot of tender head of root bud or stem.

Induction of labor
Take the tender stem of sweet potato about 20 cm away from the root, select the soft, thick and fat stem segment, about 10-20 cm long, remove the branches and leaves, immerse in 75% alcohol for disinfection, and then dry it with sterile gauze. According to the gynecological operation routine, 1-2 sterilized sweet potato vines were inserted into the official cavity (2 for the width of the uterine orifice, 1 into the uterine cavity and 1 into the cervix), and then gauze balls were inserted into the vagina to prevent premature prolapse of the sweet potato vines.
