[plant morphology] Pteridium polyphyllum
Perennial herbs. Rhizome transverse, sparsely covered with brown scales. Petiole distant, 30-50 cm long, yellowish green, smooth, glabrous, base sparsely scaly; odd pinnate compound leaf, 30-50 cm long; pinnae about 13 pairs, alternate, linear, 15-18 cm long, 1.5-2 cm wide, apex caudate, base broadly cuneate, margin coarsely serrate, glandular wart spots below, lateral veins parallel, 5-7 pairs of veinlets between two sides. The sporangia are round, separated and without sporangia cover. It is nephroid and biphasic.
Born in the shade of mountains. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi.

Cold in nature and bitter in taste.
Functions and indications: Tongjing, Huoluo, Liqi, Lishi.
