Deciduous shrub, 2-4m high. Branchlets distally pilose. Leaves opposite, ovate to ovate lanceolate, 3-8 cm long and 2-4 cm wide, apex acuminate, base rounded, margin with triangular sharp serrate, sparsely rough stellate hairs on the top and densely on the bottom; petiole short, covered with yellowish villous hairs, 2 subulate stipules on the base. Cyme terminal, with 5 branches, 2.5-4 cm in diameter; calyx short tubular, with 5 teeth, outside densely stellate hair, persistent; corolla 5-lobed, lobes radial; stamen 5, inserted on corolla, slightly protruding from corolla; ovary inferior, densely villous, style short, stigma pointed, 3-lobed. Drupe, oblate ovate elliptic, reddish brown, sparsely stellate hairy. The flowering period is May. The fruiting period is September.
It is wild in mountain shrub forest. It is distributed in Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Sichuan and other places.
