Perennial floating herbs. The stem is slender and rooting on the node. The leaves are nearly opposite, oval, 2.5-7 cm in diameter, deep heart-shaped at the base, light green above and purple below; the petiole is 2.5-12 cm long. Flowers yellow, gathered in leaf axils, umbelliform, petiolate, 2.5-8 cm long; sepals 5, lanceolate; petals 5, margin dentate, with eyelashes, glandular hairs at the throat of the tube, opposite to corolla lobes: stamen 5, inserted tube, filament short, linear, anthers long ovate halberd, T-shaped; ovary 1-locular, style short, stigma 2-3-lobed. Capsule elliptic, apex acute, seeds numerous, with finely toothed margin. The flowering period is from August to October.
They grow in ponds. It is distributed in the warm area of South China.
