[source] stem and root of Tripterygium wilfordii, a family of Convolvulaceae.
[plant morphology] climbing vines. Young branches densely pilose, old branches glabrous. Leaves alternate, leathery, elliptic, oblong or obovate, 5-15cm in length and 2-6cm in width, apex obtuse, acute or short acuminate, base cuneate, entire, iron green or dark green when dry, glossy below, with small spots. Racemes axillary or terminal, densely covered with rust colored pubescence; flowers small, golden or yellowish white; sepals 5, outer covered with brown pubescence; corolla light bell shaped, 9-10 mm long, 5-lobed, lobes 2-lobed, outer covered with close orange pubescence; stamens 5, inserted on corolla tube, anthers ovate triangular, apex conical; ovary 1-locular, ovule 4. Berry globose, with persistent calyx. 1 seed. The flowering period is from June to August and the fruiting period is from August to October.
Born in mountain jungle, climbing on trees. Produced in Guangdong.

The symptoms were significantly improved, 39 cases had good analgesic effect, 39 cases had improved symptoms and 10 cases had no effect. No side effects were found.
